I love yoga.
It has been my passion since, a decade ago, I first found myself on a yoga mat not really sure what I was doing there: my neck ached,
I was overwhelmed by a stressful job and I was looking for something... although I had little idea what.
As I gasped and wobbled through that first set of postures, I experienced a profound sense of homecoming. There was laughter as well as deep concentration and, the more I stretched my body, the more sense of spaciousness and peace I found within my mind. I was utterly hooked!
Eight years later I became a student on the CamYoga Teacher Training Diploma course and had the incredible experience of being taught by some of England's most gifted yoga practitioners : Claire Missingham, Hayley Winter and Abby Hoffman. I also owe a debt of gratitude to Cynthia Richardson who has been my mentor throughout and whose yoga I never fail to be inspired by.
Yoga hasn't made me immune to life's ups and downs but it has brought me excellent physical health, strength and flexibility and, mentally, most importantly, it has brought calm, balance ( some! ) and an ever deepening feeling of self acceptance... warts and all! I believe that it is this compassion that lies at the heart of my yoga practice and now, as a teacher myself, I very much want to share its gifts with others. I hope to see you on the mat!
Janet is a wonderful yoga teacher. She creates a relaxed, supportive atmosphere in her classes and encourages each of us to gently explore and challenge the limitations of our bodies with characteristic kindness and generosity. New poses are clearly explained - including their purpose and benefits - with a careful focus on correct form, but always with a sense of exploration and fun. Janet is clearly passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience of yoga with her students. Her class feels like a mental and physical 'reset button.'
This has been my first experience of yoga and it's been wholely positive.
Janet is such a well-prepared and enthusiastic teacher.
I am recovering from serious medical problems and Janet is always ready with alternative moves for me to do if the full postures are too difficult.
She has increased my confidence in what I will be able to achieve in time and is teaching me to honour my body as it recovers.
I wish her great success in her teaching career.
I love Janet's classes; her passion for and knowledge of yoga practice are combined with firm and gentle and encouragement of her students to find their 'edge' and work to it.
She manages to find the level and variation of poses that are just right for my body and is always aware of my tendency to push myself too hard!
I find her sequencing of poses, her music and her enthusiasm spiritually uplifting;
I find myself experiencing a sense of calm I don't find anywhere else - for me, Janet's yoga reaches the parts that other yoga teachers don't!
